7 Dots Studio Garden Party Layout Blossom and Shine
Hello, dear crafty friends! Kim here, today to share with you all my 7 Dots Studio Garden Party Layout Blossom and Shine. This is my 2nd layout using the beautiful, ‘Garden Party’ collection from 7 Dots Studio.
With this layout I tried to keep the colours very simple, with the view of making my black and white photo stand out. This layout features my daughter, Madison. Madi is currently at University and we are missing her very much!
Let me show you my layout, ‘Blossom and Shine’
I started with the 12×12 sheet of 7 Dots Studio ‘Garden Party’ Fairy Lights paper as my base. Next I grabbed the 7 Dots, ‘Garden Gnomes’ paper and I measured roughly 16cm in from the left of the paper, top and bottom & trimmed. I wanted all the gorgeous details on this paper to be centre stage….so to speak! I ripped & distressed the left-hand side of the ‘Garden Gnomes’ paper & ripped a little of the right-hand bottom corner. I then stuck this piece in place with some double-sided tape. I decided to add a little background texture to the ‘Fairy Lights’ section of my background paper, using TCW template Distressed Details & a little texture paste. After the texture paste was dry I used a blending tool and black distress ink and went over some of the textured areas. I also went around the outer edges of my layout with the blender and black ink.
I matted my photo using the piece I had cut from the 7 Dots Studio ‘Garden Party’ Garden Gnomes paper, I also distressed the edges of my matt. I then stuck this in position.
Next I took the 7 Dots Studio ‘Garden Party’ Born and fussy cut a lot of butterflies out of the sheet. I did use a lot of the butterflies or half butterflies from the sides of the paper, also cutting a few full butterflies out as well. I stuck the majority of the butterflies under and around the centre of the layout/down the meeting of the two sheets of 7 Dots papers. Taking some Floral Mixology blooms from 49 and Market, I added a few blooms around my layout. I also added some old beads I had laying around.
Taking some Lindy’s Gang Magical Shaker in Cathedral Pines Green & a little water I made a little wash to paint and splash around my project, once this was dry I then splattered a little black ink around as well.
For my title I used elements from the 7 Dots Studio ‘Garden Party’ Element stickers and the & 7 Dots Studio ‘Garden Party’ Word Stickers. To finish off my layout I decided to run a line of machine stitching around my project…..and because I like things to not be so perfect I used my scissors to break the stitching in a few places & unpick it a little!
I really hope you have enjoyed looking & reading about my 7 Dot Studio Garden Party Layout Blossom and Shine.
7 Dots papers are wonderful to work with and work so well with a slightly grunge style of scrapping, you can view the collections we have available HERE.
