Ciao Bella Broccato Estense Layout Forever

Hello, Kim here with you today to share with you all my first layout, my Ciao Bella Broccato Estense Layout Forever, created using the Ciao Bella Broccato Estense range of papers. A stunning range perfect for so many applications.

My first layout with this range features my son, Mason and a major love in his life, his fur-baby, Dexter.

Let me show you my layout.

This is the first time I have worked with the Ciao Bella range, you can view all of their collections in store HERE, the designs on each sheet of 12 x 12 paper are beautiful, the papers stand up well to mixed media products & stamping. The papers do not have a description strip so I will do my best to describe the papers I have used to you. For my base paper I have used the sheet with a large damask circle design on it. Using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Stormy Sky HERE and a blending tool I added a touch more blue to the base paper, to match it in with my photo. Using the same ink I also added a little stamping. Next using some Nuvo Expanding Mousse in Worn Linen and a couple of stencils, I added some background interest. (Making sure to dry the paste off with my heat tool.) Then taking another sheet of the Ciao Bella Broccato Estense range ( Damask blue & white pattern with dark blue spots), I cut some randomly sized long strips, inked the edges with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stuck these down, just under and to the right of where I wanted my photo to sit. I had a few little strips left over so I stuck them in the top left-hand corner.

I added some cardboard/old, clean pizza box (cut slightly smaller to the back of my photo and then matted my photo to a piece of Ciao Bella Broccato Estense, (Damask pattern with dark blue spots), and then I again stuck more cardboard to the underneath of that section to add height and interest to my layout. Next I stuck some lace elements down and then stuck my photo in place, adding some muslin/cheesecloth in between the layers. It felt a little bare at the top of my photo still, so I added two little distressed, rectangles.

I then began adding some circle elements, like buttons & little circle bits of chipboard, (which I painted, inked or added Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to), and beads around my photo. Next I stuck down a couple of flower buds from the stunning, Graphic 45 Staples-Rose Bouquet Collection- Bon Voyage & French Blue. I seem to have a thing for feather’s at the moment so I even added a few of those. Next using some navy blue acrylic paint, I placed some on my craft sheet/mat and then using a straight strip of cardboard cut from a clean pizza box I loaded up the edge with paint and then applied it to my layout and I also very carefully went around the edge of my photo and also the layout. If you look at the image below you can see the detail. I kept applying until I was happy. Also while I had the paint out I splattered a little paint around. Making sure to cover your photo.

Next I decided to add a few stamped arrows….just to boy it up a little!!!  In the Ciao Bella Broccato Estense range there is a 12 x 12 sheet that has a selection of sentiments, so I cut out something that suited my photo. I distressed & inked the edges and matted them, placing a little strip of cardboard in between the words and the matt.

Lastly I painted my title & stuck that into place on the side of my photo & added a few details.
