Cocoa Vanilla Midnight Layout The Sweet Days by Melinda Sweetman

Cocoa Vanilla Midnight Layout The Sweet Days

Hi scrappy friends, I’m so glad you could pop by the blog today to see my next creation using the gorgeous Cocoa Vanilla Studios Midnight Collection. Today’s share is another scrapbook page and funnily enough, more Snapchat Photos lol! Here is my Cocoa Vanilla Midnight Layout The Sweet Days.

As you can see I have started with a white cardstock background and before I did anything I applied a coat of the Prima Art Basics Clear Gesso and let that dry thoroughly.

I saw a layout recently somewhere (I’m sorry I can’t remember who or where!) that had used strips of patterned paper down the side and I loved how that got lots of different patterns onto the page without completely overwhelming the page. I have used a ruler to tear strips (not measured but approx 1″ to 1 1/2″ wide) from 2 patterned papers – Inky Depths and Moonlight and used 2 strips of each paper (backs and fronts) to layer on the right hand side of my page, distressing the edges before sticking together.

I had these little photos of myself and my youngest being silly with Snapchat filers and had the idea of photo strips so mounted those onto some white cardstock scraps to create 2 strips. I worked out where they were going on my white cardstock and got to work on my background using one of the brand new Distess Oxide Inks in Spun Sugar (oh my stars, this colour is just gorgeous and goes so beautifully with this collection!!) and the ever reliable packaging or smooshing technique after I had done some stamping and heat embossing in gold.

I then repeated this process in the top left where I knew my title was going.

When that was completely dried I added some splatters with the Spun Sugar and a little more stamping with Distress Oxide Ink in Faded Jeans and my background was complete!

Time to get sticking and embellishing! I have using a combination of ephemera pieces and a few stickers from the accessory sticker sheet. Oh, also adding in a flair badge and some messy gold thread.

I used 3 of the words from the Die Cut Titles pack in the Midnight collection to build my title. Zoe, this pack is amazing – you are a creative genius lol

After all of my bits were stuck down I used a gold pen from my stash to add my journalling and date and my page is done!

Once again, I have another process video and I hope you enjoy for my Cocoa Vanilla Midnight Layout The Sweet Days !
