Hey everyone and again, welcome to the blog today! Melinda here with you and I’m sharing another Cocoa Vanilla Studio Legendary collection layout which is titled “Our Super Star”.
First up for this page I chose my photo and my title. Pretty easy, right?! Using those fun Die Cut Title pieces certainly helps!
The next idea I had was to use a few different patterns and make a layered star! I started with the Outdoors Type 12×12 paper for my biggest star. Design tip: if you love a paper and are die cutting it then cut from the centre of the page! This way you can use the rest as layers or a page border!
From there I chose 4 other papers from the 6×8 Paper Stack. To make each pattern stand out I made sure to layer from a darker pattern to a lighter pattern and so forth. I cut the stars from the papers using my Silhouette Cameo. Afterwards I went around each of the stars with my sewing machine and white thread. I love the texture this adds!
With all of those patterns and colours in the stars I decided to work on a white card stock background which has been trimmed down on 2 sides. Using some Distress Oxide Inks I added some colour to my back ground using those and some plastic packaging. The colours I used were Twisted Citron, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Hickory Smoke. I didn’t apply any gesso to my white card because I really love the way Distress Oxide Inks dry without it!
After my inks were dry I added some stamping using Archival inks in black and grey. I concentrated the stamping in 3 areas – one to the top left of the star, one right at the bottom of the star and the other to the right side of the star.
Remember my design tip for using pattern paper? Well, I just love this wood grain and I used my left overs as a border around my card stock. I adhered it so that it can only be seen on the right and bottom of the page to balance the “weight”.
With all of the main parts of my page made/designed it was time to stick all of that down! I’ve used a combination of wet glue and foam adhesive for interest and dimension.
I pulled one of the flair badges (yay!!). And a few of the die cut ephemera pieces which I have tucked into layers around the page. Also fussy cutting the hot air balloon from the cut apart sheet in the 6×8 Paper Stack to add in.
This page was so fun to create! I really do love getting messy!! Head over here in the store for the entire Legendary collection! I hope you have enjoyed my share today and I’m looking forward to sharing my next CVS Legendary page with you all!
