Stitching – by Fran Tynan

How stitching can really ‘make’ your page without the need for lots of embellishments

Materials List

  • Bo Bunny Oliva papers-Cashmere, Moonlight & Nectar Basic Grey
  • Basic Grey Wander stitched brads
  • Sewing machine-black thread, brown thread
  • Basic Grey File Tab

Step 1:  Place your photo on your LO so you can see where your colour blocks will look good.
This will work well for any size LO-I’ve scrapped it in 8.5 x 11″ but it would work just as well for 12″x 12″ – you would just use more colour blocks.

Step 2:  Cut your Cashmere and Moonlight paper to provide the colour blocks on your page-leaving room around them for your stitched border.   Mine are 14cm x 6 cm and 14cm x 4cm.

Step 3:   Machine stitch a messy border around the patterned paper with black thread.  Stitch some journaling lines.

Step 4:  Add a brad in amongst the journaling lines just to look cute!  I’ve used a Basic Grey Wander stitched brad -but ANY large brad would do just as well.  Try searching “Stitched Brads” in Anna’s store and a whole bunch of fantastic brads will come up.

Step 5:  Stitch on a file tab and add your title.

Step 6:  Thread brown cotton through your sewing  machine and stitch a messy border around your whole page-going around twice.  All done.
