Color Play You’re A Gem Cards
Hey again everyone I’m so happy you dropped in to see my latest creations for Anna’s Craft Cupboard! Today you will get the full run down on just what I did to create my Color Play You’re A Gem Cards so I hope you enjoy!
This is my last share for the month using the Color Play “You’re a Gem” Collection by Photo Play Paper. These cards came from a very quick “play” session I had when I first received my DT package testing out my brand new mixed media goodies. Without further ado here are all of the cards together.
I’m so happy with how these cards came out and I loved getting messy in the process! You can do this yourself as well, more than likely with products you have to hand. My biggest tip is to have a basic understanding of the colour wheel – you want colours that sit next to each on the wheel so as to avoid mud! I am using pink (red from the colour wheel) and blue and so when they mix together you get purple – not my favourite colour but these cards are so fun, unique and just work! Let’s get started!
I have used a sheet of white watercolour paper HERE which has not been cut down yet. I think it is around A4 in size and I know I can get 4 card fronts from it. I started by sprinkling my Ken Oliver for Brutus Monroe Colour Burst powder in Rogue along with my Lindy’s Magical Shaker in Guten Tag Teal lightly on my watercolour paper and activated by spritzing with water.
I turned and titled my paper to get the colour moving and added more water to help it some more. It is a pretty simple and quiet free process as the colour goes where the colour goes and you can get some really beautiful results.
From here I dried using my heat tool and then added more of each colour as I felt I needed it; tilting and turning my page, drying and adding more colour as I saw fit.
When that was all dry I added sprinkles using Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Bubblegum Pink, Guten Tag Teal Magical Shaker, Colour Artist Ink in Soot and a gold mist from my stash. I heat set that and got to picking out all the bits and pieces for my cards fronts.
I didn’t want to add too much and cover up all that fun colour so I kept my embellishments pretty low key. I have used a combination of die cut ephemera pieces from the collection and also some elements fussy cut from the Sparkle Cut Apart sheet. The only other thing I added in was some threads – gold and black. I used a combination of foam dots and wet glue to stick all the bits together and like I said, I love how these all came together!
I do, once again have another process video for you so just grab a cuppa, click on the link and enjoy!

And here are each of my cards separately for you!
Thanks for stopping by to view my Color Play You’re A Gem Cards. I hope I have inspired you to get creative and experiment with your products to see what you can do with them and how they work (or perhaps don’t work lol) together! Until next time,
Melinda
