Color Play You’re A Gem Layout All Smiles
Hi there everyone Melinda Sweetman here with you today with my Color Play You’re A Gem Layout All Smiles. This month I am using the gorgeous Color Play You’re A Gem Collection by Photo Play Paper HERE.
I kinda scraplifted myself for this page and was inspired to use a stencil and some light modelling paste as a base before I added some colour using the beautiful Lindy’s Magical Shaker in Guten Tag Teal (oh my, all the heart eyes, LOVE this colour!). This was really easy to do and I’ll quickly walk you through it! After your modelling paste is completely dry sprinkle on a tiny bit of the shaker and activate with water. You can use a paint brush, your fingers, some plastic or simply turn and tilt your page to get the colour moving. Work in small areas and dry off in between layers. Keep adding colour until you are happy with your coverage/colour.
I wanted a little extra depth so grabbed my Colour Blast Artist Ink Marine HERE and working from the area behind where my photo was going dropped a little colour and then tilted and turned my page until I had the depth and difference in colour I was after. Again, working in smaller areas and drying off each section as I was happy with it.
I intentionally cut down my mixed media white cardstock to 11 1/2″ square as I knew I wanted to mount the whole lot onto something and settled on the Multi Geo pattered paper. I did cut the middle out of this paper so I could use it for layers on the page. I have mounted my photo onto some of that gorgeous Gemstone Swirl paper and then added some tissue paper from my stash. I added a 6×4 card from the Sparkle Cut Apart sheet (awesome sentiment – Perfectly Imperfect!) and then added 2 more layers using the middle of the Multi Geo paper I had cut out and also more of the B side of the Sparkle Cut Apart sheet.
Once I had that all stuck together I cut another of the cards from the cut apart sheet to add to my layers and decided to add some more colour to my back ground. I started with splatters using the Lindys Magical Shaker Guten Tag Teal HERE (mix a little with water and sprinkle away) then the Marine Artist Ink then added Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Bubblegum HERE and finally some gold mist from my stash.
I added some machine stitching in black around the entire edge of the white cardstock and also on the outside edge of that cut apart behind my photo.
My title is from the Dusty Attic Mini Captions #9 set and I used some gold glittery embossing powder to add colour.
The final touch to my Color Play You’re A Gem Layout was the banner pieces right along the top that spell out live from the die cut ephemera pieces, my date and my journalling – short and sweet today!
I have a process video for you today as well so please pop on the link and enjoy!! Thanks for stopping by to view my Color Play You’re A Gem Layout All Smiles and see you again very soon with another share!
