Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout And So It Begins with Melinda Sweetman

Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout And So It Begins

Hello once again, Melinda here with you finishing up my week with the awesome Shimelle Head In The Clouds collection. Another 12×12 page, my Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout And So It Begins and is all about MY lego love!

Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout And So It Begins

I started this page challenging myself to use only the HITC Project Pad. With card stock, patterned papers, stickers, glitter card stock AND an alpha, why not?! After being a little stuck for ideas hubby suggested me scrapping one of  my Disney Lego castles and off I went!

Another clean page for me with only some splatters added at the end. I have used lots of paper layers and besides a doily and mist everything came from the Project Pad! My background paper choice surprised me but my photo just popped when I tried it out so I went with this beautiful floral piece.

I used the graphic on the front of the paper pad as a bit of a “sketch” design. Starting with a strip of the silver glitter card stock, next I layered some of the light pink card behind on either side. I used a punch from my stash and created a border to one side of the pink. And then stitched straight down either side with white thread. And that was the basis for my whole page.

I knew what I wanted my title to read so build that on some freezer paper. I’ve used the alpha stickers also from the Project Pad. More papers from the pad behind my photo starting with a dark blue card and then some of the holographic print. And here is where my doily comes in, as another layer behind my photo.

I fussy cut some elements from the patterned paper starting with the dragon. I’ve also used some of the squares and labels from one of the cut apart sheets.

I wanted some more bits and pieces so pulled some stickers from the sticker sheet and scattered those over the page. And to add some more tiny details I used the branding strip from the pink card and a heart punch from my stash. Again, scattering those around the page.

My final touch was adding some mist sprinkles. I didn’t have the “right” colour so set about making my own mix. Mixing together a gold, a coppery colour and a pink I came up with a colour I am super happy with!

Challenge completed and it’s a success! I added in a doily and mist from my stash. And used a punch; but everything else is from the Project Pad. This little challenge was fun but also had me using more of my much loved (and often neglected!) tools!

I do have another video for you of my Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout And So It Begins and I do hope you’ll check it out!
