Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout Dare To Believe
Hiya everyone and welcome to the Anna’s blog today! I’m so excited to be sharing my creations this week with you using the very fun Shimelle Head In The Clouds (HITC) collection, I am starting with my Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout Dare To Believe. If you don’t know I am a huge Shimelle fan and was so excited to get this collection! It is full of lots of fairy tale themed items that I knew I would be able to use in an everyday kind of scrapbooking way! I do hope you enjoy!
For all of the paper’s in this page I have used the Head in the Clouds Project Pad (which by the way is SO awesome!!) and chose the yellow ledger paper for my background. I loved the colour, the “book-ish” theme and the simple design. It would work perfectly with my photo of my big boy receiving an end of year award at school.
I wanted to add some mixed media to the background so applied a light coat of white gesso where my photo and main cluster would be using a combination of a silicone brush and my finger to blend out the edges. Next I went in with a stencil and some beautiful Tonic Studios Novu Embellishment Mousse in 3 places.
As that dried I cleaned my stencil. While I was cleaning I got the genius idea to use my “cleaning area” to apply a bit more colour. I placed my stencil onto some plastic packaging, spritzed with water and used a paint brush to “clean” the stencil. I ended up with a little puddle of colour that I smooshed onto my gessoed background. After a bit more coverage I added some more embellishment mousse to my packaging, added water and mixed together. I then simply flipped the packaging over and smooshed onto my background.
After that was dry (with a little help of my heat tool!) I added in some of the left over colour with my paintbrush as splatters where I had started building up my background.
While that dried I worked on my layers. A couple more papers from the Head in the Clouds Project Pad (the blue-ish paper with the clouds and the coppery coloured GLITTER cardstock – that does NOT leak glitter everywhere!!).
When my background was dry it was time to stick everything down! I kept my embellishing fairly plain using only 2 die cuts from the Head in the Clouds ephemera pack – the blue coloured journalling box and the AWESOMELY cool pink dragon with the camera (I thought she represented the Mama-razzi!! very well!!). I also added 3 heart stickers from the Head in the Clouds Project Pad along with my title using the gorgeous glitter thickers from the Head in the Clouds collection paired with my other all time faves – the tiny rainbow foam thickers.
I used some of the extra stars from the thickers set to add a tiny bit more in 2 areas. As an extra “embellishment” I added some more tiny rainbow thickers in 2 places. 3 glitter enamel shapes from the Head in the Clouds collection and my journalling and my page is complete. Oh until I decided to add in some watered down grey acrylic paint splatters. And now I am DONE!
I have recorded my process and have a video to share. I’d love for you to check it out!
I hope you have enjoyed my first share, my Shimelle Head in the Clouds Layout Dare To Believe, with this oh so fun collection. I’ll have another one up soon! Until then, happy scrapping!
